We’ve been so excited to see our high street start to come back to life as the ‘non-essential’ shops have been allowed to open up again. We’re fortunate to have a thriving town centre with a fantastic range of independent and chain stores offering everything that visitors could need.
Please remember it’s not yet business as usual – please stick to the advice in the graphic below when you’re visiting businesses in Porthcawl.
Some shops have undergone additional training on being Covid-secure so look out for this blue sticker:

Now you know what to do, where can you go:
First off, why not check out new store Juniper Hill Interiors and welcome them to our town, open Tuesday-Friday 10am-3pm or Saturday 10am-4pm
Divine is reopen offering clothes and accessories.
Koko which sells jewellery and accessories is now open most days from 11am-4pm but if you want extra peace of mind, shopping on Wednesdays is appointment only and they have hand sanisitiser available for all.
The Closet is open for appointments only.
Walters Shoes is now open 10am-3:30pm most days, allowing 3 customers in the shop at a time with hand sanitiser on the door.
AJ Guttridge Flowers is also open on the high street.
For the Maple shops you’ll need to follow their Covid-safe shopping rules, you’ll find them open:
- Maple Chocolates, Maple Gifts, Little Maple & Robyn’s Nest – Monday-Saturday 10am-4:30pm
- Greetings @ Maple & Seasons @ Maple – Monday-Saturday 10am-3pm
Gifts and homeware shop Bliss is open Mon-Sat 10am-3pm or Sun 11am-3pm for general viewing or if you’d prefer an appointment these are available Mon-Sat 3pm-5pm.
Ethical fairtrade shop Sussed is also back open, allowing 2 customers at a time. You can visit Monday-Friday 10am-2pm or Saturday 10am-3:30pm.
If you want to stock up on real ales and craft beer – This Is Beer are open 12pm-6pm most days.
Wall2Wall Wines, have set up a counter at the door with staff retrieving wine off the shelf for you. Whilst this means you can’t browse, staff are happy to get what you want and provide recommendations. They are open Tue-Sat 11am-5pm or Sun 10am-4pm and have hand sanitizer for customers to use.
Bargain Booze on Mary Street is open daily 8am-10pm offering a range of gins, spirits, wines and beers. If the lightbulb inside is green, the store is safe for you to go in, but if it’s red another customer is currently using the store.
Brushstrokes Paint Shop is offering a “phone and collect” service, where you order over the phone and visit Mon-Sat 9am-5pm for collection only.
The majority of shops in Porthcawl are adapting with the likes of online ordering, click (or call) and collect if you’d prefer. Now that safety provisions are in place, let’s show our high street some love again.
